VET

The Northern College of the Arts and Technology provides one of the broadest VET programs in Victoria. VET studies focus on the development of industry-specific workplace skills, with pathways into apprenticeships, employment, TAFE or tertiary education.

VET certificates in the arts, trades or technology provide students with the opportunity to complete a nationally recognised vocational certificate from as early as Year 10, or as part of a VCE or VCAL qualification. On completion, students receive credit toward a VCE or VCAL qualification to advance pathways into apprenticeships, employment, TAFE or tertiary education.

VET is for:

/

Students looking to develop industry-specific workplace skills.

/

Students seeking pathways and training into apprenticeships.

/

Students wanting to prepare and develop their skills prior to undertaking tertiary qualifications.

“Vocational Education is absolutely so exciting; we’re giving kids experience using the full sound stage, we’re moving motorised trusses, we’ve got a pa system that’s absolutely state of the art.”

– Matt Rodd (Music Teacher)

“VCE is your year 11 & 12. You can do it as applied learning or academically or a mixture. Along with that because we are registered training organisation, most of the students are doing a VET subject as well.”

– Shelley Scown (VCAL Music Teacher)

NCAT Certificate II in Engineering

“All students are helping to play in the band, helping to record it and helping set up. Their helping to run it, they’re operating lights, operating sound, operating vision. Ever year they rise to the occasion.”

– Zac Lister (Sound Production Teacher)
