We were delighted to welcome our new Year 10 students and their parents/carers earlier this term for the traditional Year 10 Breakfast which launched the Year 10 Orientation program. Students and parents met the Year 10 Coordinators and heard from two of last year’s Year 10 student leaders, Via from the Arts and Edward from Technology; who braved the crowd and gave beautiful speeches about their experiences last year in the student leadership program and across the tech stream respectively. Both spoke articulately and from the heart about their experience of starting at NCAT and what they had gained from being at NCAT. Many parents commented on how impressed they were with the student speeches with several saying they were moved to tears. A big thank you to them!
The day was a great success with students getting to know each other, their form teachers, and their way around the college. Parents also had an opportunity to meet and get to know each other
Following this, students spent the rest of the day participating in a range of activities to get to know the school, their peers, and their form teachers such as human bingo, straw-tower building and a scavenger hunt. A huge shoutout to our form teachers for assisting in running these activities and helping the students have a smooth and fun transition to this new school environment!
By the end of the day, students knew where important areas of the school were, as well started to build friendships with one another. Both students and teachers found the day to be an exciting start to the new year.
Everyone in the year 10 team is looking forward to working with all the students this year!
