Certificate IV Photography Graduate Exhibition

Students undertaking a Certificate IV and Diploma of Photography and Digital Imaging had the opening night for their graduate exhibition on Wednesday 13th November at No Vacancy Gallery in Melbourne CBD.

The exhibition, entitled ‘Footprints and Death Masks’ showcased over 70 artworks by students from 8×10″ all the way up to 20×24″: highlighting their skill, talent and hard work over the year. Students demonstrated a keen understanding of all photographic genres including portraiture, fashion, product and still life as well as experimental works made in the colour and black & white darkroom.

In ‘On Photography’ (1977), Susan Sontag writes, “A photograph is not only an image (as a painting is an image), an interpretation of the real; it is also a trace, something directly stencilled off the real, like a footprint or a death mask.” A big thank you to everyone who came to support the college and the students’ successes on the night It was a great opportunity to meet parents and check in with former students.
