Young Women in Trades and Technologies

The Bring It On! Project is a community-led initiative focused on empowering young women - particularly young school age women - to pursue careers in the trades and technology sectors. These fields have traditionally been perceived as male-dominated, and young women interested in them have often been overlooked, discouraged, or undervalued. This project aims to challenge those narratives and support systemic, grassroots change from within local communities.

Fundamentally, the empowerment of young school age women in our community. It’s about all the young women in our communities who have been historically ignored at best or, at worst, have been actively discouraged from embarking on careers in trades and tech, who have been demeaned and devalued when they have expressed interest in entering the world of ‘mens’ domain’.

Objectives of the Bring It On! Project

To support and inspire young women to explore and commit to educational and career pathways in trades and technology.

To affirm the legitimacy and value of these career choices for women, promoting gender equity in historically male-dominated industries.

To equip parents, guardians, and caregivers with the confidence and tools to encourage and support the aspirations of the young women in their care.

To involve local businesses as active partners in cultural change, becoming advocates for diversity and inclusion within their sectors.

To engage schools—students, educators, and especially young men—in redefining attitudes toward gender and career opportunities in trades and tech.

To respond to the pressing need for skilled workers in construction, manufacturing, and related sectors within our state by broadening participation.
