The College recognises outstanding achievements made by Alumni who have excelled in their chosen career. Jolet Ucchino is a burgeoning Australian fashion icon. Her career presents a leading inspiration for our current Folio Preparation students.
Jolet’s interest in graphic design and fine art was initially explored through senior high school studies. On completion of her VCE certificate, Jolet enrolled in the College’s Folio Preparation course to develop a strong body of work to support tertiary applications, “My folio wasn’t strong enough to apply for RMIT Visual Communication straight out of high school. NCAT’s Folio Preparation course had a strong reputation and I was excited about dedicating an entire year toward developing my creative skills.”
Under the guidance, support and influence of the College’s Folio Preparation teachers, Jolet was encouraged to reach her highest creative potential, “It was a highly educational year. The teachers at NCAT made me feel like I could achieve anything. It was also one of the most enjoyable school years to date. This course is really the stepping stone into many great careers.”

On graduation, Jolet’s body of work presented as an impressive portfolio for tertiary applications, “It was by far the best body of work I had produced at that stage of my life. I would not have been able to produce a folio of such a high standard, had I not untaken the course. As I result I got into every single course I applied for.”

Jolet secured her placement with RMIT’s Bachelor of Visual Communication and continued to excel through the groundwork established during her studies at the College, I had developed computer skills and an all round design knowledge, which put me ahead of other students starting the tertiary course.” Her studies continued with Honours in Visual Design (Communication) at Monash University with a focus on fashion design, followed by employment with some of Australia’s leading fashion houses.
Jolet is now running her own highly successful, self-titled fashion label.
